National Police Academy: A Birder's Paradise

This book is an endeavour to help our readers to listen “literally”  the music of earth. It is an outcome of our sheer interest in birding and a desire to not only introduce but also enthuse our readers about the feathered tribe. It is surprising how we get so engrossed in our work that we miss the colours and ignore the calls even when the bird is right in front of us. Through this book, we wish to make the invisible, visible. 

         Our sojourn at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Police Academy, Hyderabad during our basic course training provided us with a unique opportunity to site a large variety of birds. For the benefit of others visiting and staying in the campus, we decided to bring out a small field guide of birds . This guide contains photographs of the sited birds highlighting their identifying features and little description about their most probable spotting location, their calls, their scientific names and other special attributes. The guide can also be used for birding outside the campus as they contain the most common 50-60 species, most of which are ubiquitous in Indian subcontinent. 

Besides the general information about our sightings, we have also included a few articles giving an insight into this extremely engaging hobby of bird watching and how one can pursue it.

GS 1 strategy and sources

GS 1 paper is one of the easiest papers as it has a defined syllabus and should be prepared first. Please have a look at last years question papers to understand the type of questions asked. This should be done for all the papers to have a concrete strategy for preparation.  My sources for this paper are as follows: Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society.
